Responsive Web Design from Ohler Marketing

Take Your Business to the Next Level

Over the years I have learned how critically important a great website is for all businesses big and small. Your website is the virtual version of your company that is open to customers twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This is why I take a personal approach to building high-quality websites that help small businesses educate the public about what they offer and gain new customers in the process. I work to finish my projects quickly while taking great attention to detail.

  • Media & Information (B.S.) – Michigan State University 2013.

  • 5 years building beautiful websites that attract new customers.

  • 6 years optimizing sites and increasing search positions (SEO).

  • 6 years boosting income using pay-per-click advertising (AdWords).

  • 6 years enhancing sites using data from Google Analytics.

Hosting & Backend Setup

Domain Name Set Up

Domain Name

Your domain name is your home on the internet. It is how customers and search engines can find your website.

We will work together to choose the most appropriate name for your business. I can purchase the name on your behalf or use a domain you already own.

Website Hosting Set Up

Website Hosting

The ‘host’ is the company that we are paying to physically store the files that make up our website. Years of experience have shown which hosting companies are most reliable.

I will choose a low cost, reliable host that I have experience working with. This helps keep overhead low while minimizing downtime.

Backend Set Up

CMS Installation

The Content Management System (CMS) is software that stores and organizes all of the files that make up our website.

I use WordPress, which is one of the most widely trusted, user-friendly systems available. WordPress makes it simple to make changes, manage users, and backup the site.

Content Collection

An open exchange of information about your business is an integral part of building a great website. I need to learn as much as I can about your goals and the challenges you face.

This may include written content in the form of product specifications, descriptions of services, or a list of items from a restaurant menu. We will also gather any logos, images, or videos that will add value to the website.

Creating A Unique Style

Every brand has their own target customer, personality, and taste. We will work together to define a style that fits with your company. A style that’s individual and professional.

There will be a collaboration on color schemes, textures, and even typography. If your company already has a logo or other branding materials, we can use that as inspiration for a quick and easy start.

Defining The Site Map

This package is designed for clients that need a simple, user-friendly,  great looking site. Keeping the amount of pages small doesn’t require as much written and image content. It also allows the cost to be so low!

Small Business Basics sites are built with 4 core pages. These pages are home, about, contact, and a page to display your services, products, menu, etc.

While this package is great for some businesses, many sites require more detail. I can provide a quote for custom design with a page structure that fits your specific needs.

SEO & Visitor Data

Keywords are what search engines use to determine what a webpage is about. Google takes a users search query (what they type into the search bar) and finds webpages that have those keywords. While keywords are only a part of the process Google uses to decide which websites to show first, they are one of the most important factors.

Using a paid ‘competitive intelligence’ web service, I will scour the internet for keywords that are relevant or helpful for our site. One of the most critical parts of keyword research is finding keywords that present a good opportunity for our site, meaning keywords that are high value yet lower in competition. Anyone can find the top keywords in an industry, but those words are often already dominated by the industry leaders. We would be wasting our time by targeting only those terms with limited resources.

SEO Keyword Research Example

Now that we’re armed with a set of high-value keywords, we can begin strategically installing them in the website. There are many different facets of the site that require optimization. These areas range from image alt descriptions, title tags, internal linking anchor text, and many more.

This process is all about making your website very attractive to search engines when they are looking for a search term within your industry. Don’t waste your time learning all about the many different things that you need to do to get your website search engine ready. I run through a comprehensive checklist of optimization items to ensure that all the bases are covered for your website.

Google Search Console (formerly Webmaster Tools) serves as the direct link between Google and our website.

I will submit an xml sitemap of our website to improve the crawling speed by Googles bots and also set the preferred site protocol according to our WordPress installation (http://www.  vs  www.).

It’s important to have a Search Console account active for the purposes of communication with Google. If there’s a problem with the website or if there were some type of issue with appearing in Google search results we can learn about it here.

Google Search Console Integration

Google Analytics is a software that monitors the behavior of visitors to your website. This provides us with data about the way that our website is performing. Not only will we be able to track how many people are visiting the site, but we can see where they came from, what they do when they get there, what device they’re using, and much more.

Analytics gives us the means to make continual improvements to the site. Without this stream of data, any ‘improvements’ made to the website would be a total shot in the dark. In addition, we wouldn’t be able to see the effect that any changes would have.

I will create a Google Analytics account for your business and install it into your website. This new Analytics account will immediately begin collecting data on all visitors to the website. You can chose to access this account now or at any point in the future.
